The LAE Lobby Team recently wrapped up a unique legislative season. With a new governor in office, legislators gathered for not one, but three sessions (one regular and two special), focusing on fixing the state’s massive budget deficit. Legislators ultimately raised $263 million, contributing $1.5 billion to this year’s budget. Here are a few areas in which LAE Lobbyists stood strong for Louisiana's public school employees:
Louisiana lawmakers are currently out of session, but that doesn't mean LAE's legislative efforts cease.
Our legislative and political team continues to work for the members on the analysis of new policies that stand to impact Louisiana's public school employees and students. Our most immediate endeavor: the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
In an effort to ensure that the concerns of our state's communities are truly being addressed, LAE leaders are gearing up to host a series of community forums where we intend to gather genuine stakeholder input on the new law. Please note the dates and cities (listed below) of these events and make plans to join LAE when our team visits your area:

- Lafayette - September 20
- Lake Charles - September 21
- Morgan City - September 22
- Monroe - September 27
- Baton Rouge - September 29
- LaPlace - October 4
- Alexandria - October 5
- Bogalusa - October 6
